The Sixth Month

About You:

You may be experiencing a variety of symptoms associated with your pregnancy, which include:

• more pronounced fetal movement
• achiness of your lower abdomen or back (caused by ligaments stretching to support your uterus)
• heartburn, indigestion, flatulence, bloating, constipation, leg cramps
• increasing whitish vaginal discharge (leucorrhea)
• mild swelling of your ankles and feet, occasionally of your hands and face
• changes in your skin pigmentation of your face and/or abdomen
• varicose veins in your legs; hemorrhoids
• itchy abdomen
• enlarged breasts
• bleeding gums ("pink toothbrush")
• hearty appetite
• some anxiety about the future
• fewer mood swings

About Baby:

Your baby is growing every day and now has the following characteristics:

• approximately 13 inches long
• weighs approximately 1 3/4 pounds
• thin and shiny skin, with no underlying fat
• visible finger and toe prints
• eyelids beginning to part and eyes are open
