The Fourth Month

About You:

You may be experiencing a variety of symptoms associated with your pregnancy, which could include:

• less tiredness and sleepiness
• less need to urinate frequently
• usually less or no nausea and vomiting; in some cases however, this symptom might last throughout the pregnancy
• heartburn, indigestion, flatulence, bloating, constipation
• changes in your breasts - they may become heavier, tender, fuller, darkening of the areola
• occasional headaches
• occasional faintness or dizziness
• occasional nasal congestion and nosebleeds
• increased appetite
• varicose veins in your legs; hemorrhoids
• mild swelling of ankles and feet, less frequently of the hands and face
• some slight whitish vaginal discharge (leukorrhea)
• irritability, mood swings, weepiness, or a sense of calmness
• joy alternating with apprehension at feeling pregnant; frustration as you grow too large for your regular clothes, but not pregnant enough for maternity clothes

About Baby:

Your baby is growing every day and now has the following characteristics:

• is approximately 4 inches long
• is developing reflexes such as sucking and swallowing
• body is growing faster than the head
• tooth buds develop and appear
• fingers and toes are now well defined
