The Third Month

About You:

You may be experiencing a variety of symptoms associated with your pregnancy, which could include:

• tiredness and sleepiness
• need to urinate frequently
• nausea with or without vomiting which may last only a brief time each day, or may last throughout the day; increased salivation
• heartburn, indigestion, flatulence, bloating
• intolerance to some foods; cravings for some foods
• changes in your breasts - they may become heavier, tender, fuller, darkening of the areola
• occasional headaches
• occasional faintness or dizziness
• veins become more visible, particularly in the breasts, as blood supply increases
• some tightening of clothing around waist and bust
• increased appetite
• irritability, mood swings, weepiness, or a sense of calmness

About Baby:

Your baby is growing every day and now has the following characteristics:

• by the end of this month, your baby is now referred to as a fetus
• is approximately 2 1/2 to 3 inches long
• weighs about 1/2 ounce
• circulatory and urinary systems are now operating; the liver produces bile
• reproductive organs are developed
